| Snow monkey |
| As our guests often ask about
snow monkey, I finally decided to visit
there to see how it is like. |
 |
You have to go up this path
covered with snow to reach snow monkey,
so normal sneakers and high-heels footgears
never work.......
|
 |
Roughly 30 minutes walking
in the snow.
|
 |
Jigokudani Onsen is located
in this deep tiny narrow valley. There are
2 pathes reach there but the other one which
I didn't walk along was unavailable in winter.
Movie
here.

|
 |
Some gets in the onsen there.
|
 |
Ready to get in?
|
 |
| Some people sometimes get
too close to monkeys, but they are anyway
wild monkeys, you should keep distance.
Something you must not do there are.........
( described in some signboards there but
only in Japanese )
#1 Don't feed any.
#2 Don't talk to.
#3 Don't stare at monkeys at thier eyes.
If you do, monkeys take it that you are
hostile to them and they might start attacking
you.
#4 Don't touch monkeys any.
|
 |
Hugs. Baby monkeys often hug
each other.
|
 |
Just after getting out of
the bath........ brrrrrr. This one didn't
even try to dry its body out like dogs do.
Wondered if it didn't feel cold.
|
| Actually I personally don't
like monkeys at all. Because I was attacked
by a monkey when I was a 5 years old kid
at Mt.Takasaki in Ohita prefecture when
I walked around with my family. My mom gave
me a warning to hide a box of caramels in
my hand but this handful boy didn't listen
to his mom then a monkey suddenly rushed
at me to steal all the caramels in my hand.
Even now I remember the monkey tried to
hold me down to steal caramels. For a 5
years old boy, a hungry wild adult monkey
is enough big to get scared of. I got traumatized
some at monkeys. When I found monkeys, it
always pops up in my mind. But I don't think
it was the monkey's fault. it was totally
my fault from ignorance. We have to know
how to do when any wild animals are around.
