| Snowscoot trial |
|
|
I tried snowscoot being 42 years old for
the first time today 13th February 2003. As you see, it
has 2 boards and handle bars. We just ride on the rear
board with both feet. Asked a lesson at Hakuba 47 snowscoot
school. |
Never permitted
to do
When you enjoy snowscoot, you can't release handle bar
from your hands even when you fall down. Because it feels
like as if you are thrown away when you fall down. Then
if you release the handle bar from your hands, the snowscoot
that is almost 10kgs in weight will be dropped down on
you because one of your legs and the handle bar is connected
with a rubber not to lose the snowscoot. It's really danger
if it happens. Be careful and please don't forget this
matter. |

| If you compared #13 with #14, you can see
how knees get bent in each situation. In #13, knees are
bent more to put more weight on the boards, in #14, knees
gets bent less to release weight to start turning. When
we enjoy snowscoot, we have to put our weight at the inner
edge - when we turn to left, we have to put our weight
at left edge. When we ski, we put our weight at the inner
edge of the outside ski. This is kinda confusion for beginner
snowscooters that have skied. You will fall down some
times until your body learns how to do. |

#22 Lost balance and my right foot got on snow. Look
at the footgear on my right foot, it's just a snowboot.
We don't need any special footgears for snowscoot. My
instructor wore a pair of mountain climbing footgear for
winter. He says any kinds are okay if it protect our feet
from cold and if they don't fix our ankles. |
Impression
It was terrible at the first time because i fell down
some times having reverse edging / opposite edging. But
in proportion to learn how to do, it got fun! The instructor
says the oldest student the scoot school have had is 57
years old. but I guess anyone can enjoy this if they have
skied before. Age doesn't matter. You should try! |
