82 series Limited express diesel car.
DMH17 engine (180horse power) x 1
There's a machine room behind the control room in
which another DMH17 as a generator.
Launched :1960 - 1968. Retired from active life in
late '80s or early '90s(unsure).

10 series 17 local diesel car. DMH17 x 1.
Launched around 1960, retired from active life in
early '80s(unsure).

181 series Limited express train car (Control car)
for direct current electric lines. They had special
brakes to control speed at steep downhill like 20
per mil or more as this series were planed to get
in deep mountain area.
A motor generator and a compressor were located in
the bonnet to avoid the noise to the passenger room.
MT54 motor (120kw) equipted at motor cars, gear ratio
3.50 (77:22).
Launched 1964 - 1966 (many were reconstructed from
151,161series which were launched 1958 - 1963 ). Retired
from active life in 1982

165 series Express train car (Control
car ) for direct current electric lines. Same as 181
above, they also had special brakes for steep downhill.
MT54 motor equipted, gear ratio 4.21 (80:19).
Launched 1963 - 1970. Retired from active life in
2003.

457 series Express train cars for both DC and AC
lines. Can run anywhere in Japan if the line is electrified.
This series started at 451(for DC and 50Hz AC area
) /471 ( for DC and 60Hz AC area) as Japan has 2 different
frequency - 50Hz for eastern part, 60Hz for western
part. If it's DC, it doesn't matter but if it's AC,
it does as far as a rectifier can not handle both.
