Kamikochi is a beautiful place to visit. Clear water, clear air with

alpine scenery. There's some trekking coureses around. Worth visiting. You had better plan one from late April by early November. Everything is closed in winter there.

Taisho-ike was born in when a volcano Mt.Yakedake exploded to stop up the Azusa river in 1915.

How to reach Kamikochi from Hayaokidori

Let's say 2 hours for one way.
You can not get in further from Sawando area. You need to park your car there then catch a bus or cab.

Attention when you would like to walk between Kamikochi and Taishoike

Sometimes hard to get on a bus or catch a cab for Sawando, Matsumoto direction at Taishoike especially when it's busy. I recommend you to get off a bus or a cab at Taishoike on the way to Kamikochi to take a walk. When you stay in an accommodation around Taishoike, you'd better hire a cab to get out of the area for Sawando or Matsumoto.
